TGT Cares: A Back-to-School Day with KidsLIFE Foundation in Cebu

TGT Global employees in Cebu spent a day with KidsLIFE Foundation as part of TGT Cares, bringing donations, games, and support to children before the new school year.

On a Saturday morning in August, a group of TGT Global employees in Cebu spent the day with the children of KidsLIFE Foundation. The visit was a TGT Cares activity, TGT’s initiative that allows our people to volunteer their time and effort for the communities around them.

This visit had a simple aim: to help the children start the new school year feeling supported.

TGT people showed up for the children of KidsLIFE Foundation

The volunteers came with different levels of experience. For some, it was their first outreach activity. Almira May Ba-at, a member of Team TGT who volunteered, said:

Honestly, this is my first time joining this kind of program. It was quite tiring, but I enjoyed interacting with the kids, and I had a lot of fun with them because I love kids.

Some first timers said they would gladly do it again. While others had volunteered with children before and were glad to be doing it again.

Cristina Claro, another member of Team TGT who volunteered, shared:

It’s been a long time since I joined an outreach program with kids, so I’m happy that TGT reached out to KidsLIFE Foundation. It’s a very fulfilling day because it touches my heart.

A time to play before the school year starts

Most of the day went by playing games, and that was intentional. Before the new school year started, the volunteers wanted the children to have a day full of fun. Cristina explained:

We’re very happy to play with the kids and see them free, because the foundation said they aren’t able to feel who they are whenever they’re at home. So, we’re giving them the opportunity to just be kids while making sure they feel loved and valued.

Planned in Manila, carried out in Cebu

The Back-to-School Donation Drive was planned by TGT’s Manila team, and the Cebu team ran it on the day. Before the event wrapped up, the volunteers took a moment to express their gratitude.

“I’m so happy that we have this outreach program today. We’re able to help these kids,” Almira said. “Thank you very much, TGT,” she added.

Arovebe Palit, another volunteer, thanked Pearl Margarette Encarguez Briones, one of TGT’s Employee Experience Officers. “Thank you very much, Pearl. Without you, this wouldn’t have been successful. And also, our EE team in Manila.”

Why TGT Cares matters to our people

Nobody was required to be there. Employees chose to volunteer, and several said they would do it again. Ma. Victoria Lepiten, another member of Team TGT who volunteered, said:

I’m encouraging everyone to support more outreach programs and to volunteer. As a volunteer, I feel happy and fulfilled, and I thank you for sharing your love and care with those kids.

Giving back, together

The Back-to-School Donation Drive happened because our employees gave their time, donations, and energy to children they were meeting for the first time.

TGT Cares is part of how we work. We believe people who feel valued carry that care into their daily work, including the work they do for our clients. Every volunteer and every donation was part of that.
