A Shared Step Toward a Cleaner Future

TGT Global marked Earth Day with a coastal clean-up and guided nature walk at Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park. Through hands-on action and shared insights, the team gained a deeper view of environmental care, and the role small actions play in creating lasting impact.

A day on the shore turned into something more. What began as a simple clean-up became a shared moment of learning, effort, and purpose for the TGT Global team.

About the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park

The Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) is a protected coastal site and a key habitat for migratory birds and marine life. Recognized under national law, it plays a vital role in preserving biodiversity and serves as a space for learning, conservation, and community action.

What lies beneath the surface

As part of our ongoing CSR efforts, our team marked Earth Day with a coastal clean-up and guided nature walk. It was a chance to step outside daily routines and take part in something grounded and genuine.

For many, the experience was eye-opening. Patricia Malig, Employee Experience Specialist, shared, “One moment that deeply stayed with me was deciding to stop using the tools handed out and instead use my own gloved hands to collect large pieces of styrofoam buried deep beneath the sand. That simple choice made me more aware of how much waste goes unnoticed.”

She added, “Knowing that it doesn’t dissolve and instead breaks down into microplastics made the task feel heavier, but it also strengthened my resolve.”

The team quickly realized that what looks clean at first glance often tells a different story. Airish Agojo, Training Lead, reflected, “At first, the shore looked clean, but once we focused on styrofoam, we saw how much was buried in the sand. We ended up collecting 53 kilos.” She continued, “It made me realize that a few minutes of convenience for us creates a decades-long problem for the environment.”

A shift in perspective

Beyond the physical work, the guided talk offered a deeper view of the site and its role in the ecosystem. Stephanie Hiceta shared, “One thing that struck me was learning that coastal clean-ups have been done for many years, with the hope that future generations will no longer need to do this.” She added, “That message highlighted the need to take responsibility today to create a cleaner and safer environment.”

These insights stayed with the team. From choosing reusable items to being more mindful of daily habits, the impact of the day did not end at the shore.

What we carry beyond the shore

This initiative is one of many ways TGT Global continues to give back through its CSR efforts. It serves as a reminder that change does not always begin with a big impact. It starts with showing up, taking part, and choosing to serve.
